WATER HARDNESS-RUST AND SMELL
Hardness of water will vary from city to city. Some cities soften their water, but most do not. Softened water will help you maintain your fixtures, faucets and water heater. Valley Plumbing does sell and install a full line of water conditioners.
RUST You may experience a discoloration in your water at times and it will be most noticeable when you fill your bathtub or whirlpool. This is usually caused by the expanding or tapping of water mains in your city. The rust problem will normally go away after a week or so. Sometimes a large amount may settle in your water heater and it may be necessary to flush the water heater.
SMELL The most common odor is sulfur smell, like rotten eggs. This is noticed after the installation of a water softener, because the salt residue in the water attacks the anode rod in the water heater. You should reduce the salt setting on your water softener and flush the water heater. If this does not correct the problem the anode rod may have to be removed. THIS IS NOT A WARRANTY ITEM. Due to the varying water conditions from one location to another.
