PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE

Your water heater comes with a T & P relief valve installed on either the top of the water heater or on the side.  The copper pipe from the relief valve runs down the side of the water heater, within 18Žof the floor.  This relief valve is designed to relieve water from the eater under two conditions.  If the city water pressure or the temperature of the water gets too high.  In most cases the relief valve goes off, because of too high of water pressure.  Since water pressure increases are only temporary, you can resolve this problem by closing the valve off for about 4-hours and also turn the water heater temperature control down to vacation.  After 4 hours turn the valve back on that feeds the water heater and re-sets the temperature control.
