KITCHEN SINK & DISPOSAL

The drain piping under the kitchen sink is made of plastic material, and if you look at it, you will notice that it has a lot of mech. Joints in it.  For this reason you will have to be careful when storing wastebaskets and cleaning materials under the sink.  Do not jar or put any strain on these joints.  Otherwise you can cause them to leak.

 DISPOSALS     (The Do’s and Don’ts)

DO NOT put any stringy vegetables in them, like celery, cornhusks, string beans, banana peels, lettuce, carrots or tomato skins.

DO NOT put large bones in your disposal

DO NOT put large amounts of any material in you disposal because most of these materials are heavier than water and will settle in your drainpipe and eventually plug your drain.

DO NOT put any pasta or rice in your disposal, because the disposal will turn them into paste, which will plug your drain.

DO run a lot of cold water while the disposal is running and for 30 seconds after the disposal is shut off.

DO put ice cubes in your disposal while it’s running to clean the inside of the disposal.

DO use baking soda in your disposal to cure any odors.

If your disposal becomes jammed there is an Allen wrench provided that fits in a hole in the bottom of the disposal to unjam it.  Put the Allen wrench in the hole and turn it back and forth to unjam the disposal.  The wrench for the disposal is in a plastic pouch on the inside of your kitchen cabinet or it is taped to the disposal.  If your disposal becomes jammed and is not shut-off immediately it will go out on re-set, To re-set the disposal you will have to push in the little red button on the bottom side of the disposal.
